What is Walk for Life, and why it matters

Walk for Life is a community-led initiative created to support people affected by sudden and unexplained cardiac events — including families and friends who have lost someone suddenly, and those who have survived an unexpected cardiac arrest. These experiences often arrive without warning and can leave people feeling isolated, uncertain how to talk about what has happened, or unsure where they fit afterwards. Walk for Life exists to create space for connection in a way that is simple, respectful, and grounded in shared understanding.

In Australia, Walk for Life takes the form of locally organised, independent community walks. The first of these was run in Sydney in 2022 and has been held each year since. In May 2026, the inaugural Walk for Life – Melbourne will take place, shaped by the same underlying purpose but organised independently at a local level. Both walks drew inspiration from support-focused walks held in the United Kingdom by CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young), adapting that approach to suit their own communities.

This page exists to help direct people to the individual Walk for Life events. Each walk is organised locally and operates independently, while sharing a common ethos and intention.
